Darfur Genocide... In brief
The Darfur Genocide is a mass of men, women and children that are being rape and kill in the Western Sudan. It begins in 2003 and continues still today. Over 480 000 people have been killed and over 2.8 million people are displaced in the world today. (WorldWithoutGenocide, 2012, 2) All of the causes, such has complexities of desertification, famine, and civil war between North and South Sudan contributed to grow the tensions during the 1980s. Sudan became interested in Darfur when oil was discovered. The discovery of oil in the region has sparked envy. If the conflict has been widely described in ethnic and political terms, it is also a fight for oil resources in the south and west. The commission of Inquiry United Nations (UN) on violations of human rights abuses in Sudan speaks crimes against humanity and it sends the case to the International Criminal Court (ICC). (WorldWithoutGenocide, 2012, 10) Today, almost 12 years after, there are still human that lives in bad conditions because of Darfur Genocide.
