Connection with globalization
Hybridization
The Darfurian tribes have customs, traditions, and religious beliefs, which results to a hybridization of the culture. There is a global exchange present culturally. Also, there is a multicultural exchange that reminds us of how globalization used to develop before the age of computers. In Darfur, examples of cultures that are present in each tribe are the use of their language, as well as art and dances. Their common belief is the religion of Islam. Many of their rituals, holidays, and the way they celebrate are very similar. Although marginalization was one of the causes of the conflict in Darfur, it didn’t stop the fact that culture has evolved. (Menon, 2012, p.1)

Jihad: The Sharia law
Globalization has a cultural view and a great example of a cultural globalization is ‘Jihad’. Jihad means “Holy war”. Although it comes directly from Christianity, it is the one of the ideas in the West of Sudan’s religion, Islam. An example of how Jihad wants to impose itself is by the Sharia law. Not all Muslims agree on that fact. (Boot, 2013, p.5). Jihad has a direct link with the law of war and peace, and it signifies something big to Muslims.
The Sharia law is an Islamic law that relates to war. It contains Five Basic Rights: Religion, Life, Mind, Honor, and Property. More specifically, the Sharia law controls many aspects of people's lives. The law of war has a goal to secure mainly the religion of people during the war. The Five Basic Rights have a relation to morality and ethics, which are part of the African culture. Marriage, sexuality and government are part of the elements that cover the Five Basic Rights, which are directly connected to the concept of war. All over the world, the Sharia law brought many advances concerning science and technology, as well as art and philosophy. (Jordan, 2009, p.12)
